I offer workshops combining The Work of Byron Katie with Zen practice. These range from half-day introductions to week-long immersive retreats.
Upcoming
The Work: A Weekend Inquiry Workshop
A weekend of inquiry and silence in the beautiful setting of Great Vow Zen Monastery. Participants do The Work with partners in a container of noble silence, supported by sitting and walking meditation.
What to Expect
These retreats are designed to provide space for participants to do The Work in a meditative way. The structure is deliberately simple:
Partner Inquiry
Participants take turns being facilitator and client, working on stressful thoughts from their own lives.
Noble Silence
Outside of inquiry sessions, we maintain silence, allowing the work to deepen.
Sitting Meditation
Regular periods of sitting meditation support the inquiry process.
Walking Meditation
Moving meditation helps integrate insights into the body.
Typical Schedule
Thursday Evening: Registration, opening session, harvesting beliefs, introduction to The Work.
Friday and Saturday: Full days of meditation and partner inquiry, with meals taken in silence.
Sunday: Morning meditation and inquiry, closing circle, sharing of experiences.
Open-Ended Inquiry
The approach we take has three invitations:
- Give yourself to silence and stillness — gently, patiently wait for deeper answers to surface.
- Simply report — share the answers you hear inside yourself without censoring or trying to figure out what the answers are "supposed" to be.
- Yield to time — allow inquiry to take as long as it may, respecting the natural rhythms of your own process.
