Eduardo Kyōzen Zambrano
I am an Economics Professor at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, where I have taught since 2007. I have two young children, Mariana and Victor, and two grown children, Maya and Tad. I first met my wife, Katya, in 2017, and we have been married since 2021. Outside of work, I enjoy indoor and outdoor rock climbing.
Meditation Practice
I began practicing meditation in 1988 and started practicing Zen in 1995, Theravada in 1999, and Dzogchen in 2005. On May 11, 2025, I received Jukai from Roshi Shogen Bloodgood at the San Luis Obispo Zen Circle, where I currently serve as Head Trainee.
The Work of Byron Katie
Since 2002, I have been a student of The Work of Byron Katie. I completed my first nine-day School for The Work in 2004 and was first certified as a facilitator by Byron Katie's Institute for The Work on March 20, 2007. Whenever possible, I staff weekend and weeklong events led by Byron Katie. I have been staffing her events since 2005.
I have been offering The Work in Buddhist centers since 2007, leading half-day, one-day, weekend, and week-long retreats. Since 2019, I have been bringing The Work to Great Vow Zen Monastery, where I now go twice a year.
