Spiritual advice to follow on odd days

domino

  1. Trust your own inner intelligence above anything else.
  2. Periodically consider points of view different from your own as a matter of practice, and
  3. Give yourself extended periods of time every now and then where you completely rest from thinking about spiritual stuff in any way. Devote that time to things you love to do like riding a bike, baking cookies, being with people you care about, living your life.

  1. Hi,

I have interest in spiritual practices and have tried and searched many things. I Stay in India. I found about the work of byron katie on you tube (by someone on internet) and found it to be very interesting. Its been one year since I have been practicing it. I feel its one of the best things I found in life. Since I do not stay in US and I cannot afford to go there as well to attend the school of work (I have strong wish though). On searching the people who are practicing the work I found your website. Its very rich in content. I wish two things:

    1. Do you know of any group or forum where I can connect and share with people practicing the work. And also I wish if someone could facilitate me once. (I am not very rich so cannot pay much)

    2. Can someone who has attended the school of work or any other program conducted by byron katie suggest me the different exercises to make the work more as part of life. (in one you tube clipping byron katie has mentioned that there are some more exercises in her workshops)

I would be grateful if you could provide me some lead as to how to go about these two things.

    Hi Nidhi:

Thanks for your kind words about my site.

There are many resources online for anyone wishing to learn more about The Work. First, there is the Helpline, which anyone can use free of charge. Second: there is the little book, which is an abridgment of Loving What Is. You can find more free resources here.

The simplest way to get a collection of exercises that would help you make The Work part of your life is to read “Loving What Is” and “I Need Your Love: Is it True?.” They are both filled with exercises that you can try on your own. They’re all very well explained there. Those books are fairly inexpensive. You can get them in Amazon.com or something like that.

Finally, about The School. If you have a budding desire to attend The School and feel that you cannot afford it, you should seriously consider applying for a scholarship. Many scholarships are given for The School for those who really want to put an end to their suffering, and contribute to bring peace to this world. They may even be able to help pay for travel. Who knows? Check this link for details.

Last, but not least, keep in mind the old Eastern saying as you tread the waters of self discovery: the raft is not the shore. Spiritual tools help us find the truth when it appears to be eluding us, but the fact is: Truth is everywhere.
