The Ditty Bops and a Brave Dancer

Last week I had the opportunity to enjoy a concert by The Ditty Bops, a remarkable band from LA that initiated its 2007 US tour with a concert at Windrose Farms in Paso Robles, CA. The tour has as its theme the promotion of organic, sustainable farming. Last summer they pedaled 4502 miles from California to New York on a 12-state, all-bicycle tour to support their album “Moon Over the Freeway,” and to promote biking. Neither of them owns a car.

The concert I saw on August 1st at Windrose Farms was a delight: really interesting, witty, fresh and unassuming music. A whimsical mix of folk, bluegrass, blues, western swing, ragtime and musical theater. It made my first week of living in California feel like moving here was truly coming home.

On top of that the Ditty Bops, Amanda and Abby, are totally cute. I mean, does it really get better than that?

Well, it does, in a sense. Better than seeing their performance is… being a part of it, somewhat. For their first song they played they requested from the audience some backup dancers. As no one would stand up I, umm, took the call. Take a peek…
