I'd also add that there may be an assumption that focusing on stressful thoughts creates the stress, as opposed to stress being felt, then finding the thought behind it :-)

My experience is that avoiding these thoughts and beliefs creates stress in itself - if I believe that 'sunlight causes cancer' I can avoid it for a while and the stress won't be that noticeable when I'm not in sunlight, but it is still there, operating under the surface (like a submarine).

Of course, when I go out in the sunlight the difference will be huge - one 'solution' is to never go out into the sunlight.... the other is, question it.

And I 'know' (well, I assume) you know all of this perfectly well - I'm really writing this to remind myself - the surface beliefs are easy, it's the one's that jump out from 'nowhere' that are tricky!</description>
